What is 18/8 Stainless?
Stainless steel is available in many grades, two of the most common are 18/0 and 18/8.
The ‘18’ refers to 18% chromium which is added to the steel mix to give it stainless properties. The ‘8’ refers to 8% nickel, which gives it a silvery sheen. 18/0 is less expensive than 18/8. 18/8 gives greater protection against corrosion and has a softer shine; it is one of the top grades of stainless steel. 18/0 and 18/8 are both fully dishwasher-safe.
All Funware minis and large Funware serving utensils are 18/8 stainless. Funware will not rust or corrode regardless of the stainless used.
